The dark‐field diffraction contrast of helical nanotubes (NTs) is shown to be asymmetric when an NT is tilted at appropriate angle with respect to the incident electron beam. This phenomenon was used for the chirality determination of multi‐shell NTs observed in MoS 2 layered compound. layered compound.

In the process of PA contrast agent development, some key parameters should necessarily be taken into account to allow for clear comparison amongst different nanostructures. • One of the most important parameters is ε or σ, the molar absorption coefficient or
2009/3/25· In this paper, we present a prototype physiologically gated micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) scanner based on a carbon nanotube field emission micro-focus x-ray source. The novel x-ray source allows x-ray pulses and imaging sequences to be readily synchronized and gated to non-periodic physiological signals from small animals.
2010/3/1· 2.1. Carbon nanotube electrodes for supercapacitors Due to their relative ease of fabriion, randomly entangled CNTs are the first type of CNT materials that were studied for supercapacitor appliions. Comparing with high-surface-area activated carbons, CNTs

Here we show that single-walled carbon nanotubes conjugated with cyclic Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptides can be used as a contrast agent for photoacoustic imaging of tumours. Intravenous administration of these targeted nanotubes to mice bearing tumours showed eight times greater photoacoustic signal in the tumour than mice injected with non-targeted nanotubes.

The prospect of SWNTs as a contrast agent for PA imaging was also reported (Pramanik et al 2009). In this study, we exploited the intrinsic optical absorbance (Hughes et al 2007, Berciaud et al 2007) of carbon nanotubes to develop them as contrast agents .

2010/3/22· Lesions on the peritoneal face of the diaphragm after intra-peritoneal injection of 2 forms of carbon nanotube differing in aspect ratio. The figure shows sections through the peritoneal aspect of the diaphragm of C57BL/6 mice 6 months after intra-peritoneal injection of 10 μg of two separate forms of multi-walled carbon nanotube (CNT).
Here, we review the use of two new carbon nanotube-based contrast agents (CAs) for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) called Gadonanotube (GNT) materials, which contain Gd3+-ion clusters or Gd3+ chelates within the sidewall cavities of 20-80 nm long
Recent experimental studies report correlations between carbon nanotube toxicity and tube length and stiffness. Very little is known, however, about the actual behavior of these fibrous nanomaterials inside living cells following uptake, and the fundamental mechanistic link between stiffness and toxicity is unclear. Here we reveal a nanomechanical mechanism by which sufficiently long and stiff

Fiber print-through effect is a limitation to the use of carbon fiber-reinforced composites in space appliions, namely, mirror telescopes. Replica method is used for the production of lightweight telescope mirrors. However, this method requires a polished mandrel, increasing considerably the final cost. In this work, we report a cheaper and simpler alternative production method, which
On the other hand, the metallic alyst nanoparticles attached on nanotubes can be utilized as the T2‐contrast agent in magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of SWNT‐labeled hMSCs. Moreover, in vivo photoacoustic imaging of hMSCs in mice is also demonstrated.
"Bismuth has been thought of before as a CT contrast agent, but putting it in nanotube capsules allows us to get them inside cells in high concentrations," Wilson said. "That lets us take an X-ray
2013/9/4· Rice-led collaboration finds element shines as contrast agent for tracking stem cells Scientists at Rice University have trapped bismuth in a nanotube cage to tag stem cells for X-ray tracking. Bismuth is probably best known as the active element in a popular stomach-settling elixir and is also used in cosmetics and medical appliions.
2016/9/22· We report highly sensitive and reliable strain sensors based on silver nanoparticle (AgNP) and carbon nanotube (CNT) composite thin films. The CNT/AgNP was prepared by a screen printing process using a mixture of a CNT paste and an AgNP ink. It is discovered that the sensitivity of such sensors are highly dependent on the crack formation in the composites. By altering the substrate use …
